GUWAHATI: Not paying heed to the state-wide bandh, declared by a youth organisation, Guwahati went ahead with its business.

The bandh called upon by the All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation (AABYSF) on 3rd November, against the brutal killings of the five men in Dhola, Tinsukia had a very little affect in the city.

Buses were seen plying on the streets with traffic functioning without any disruption.

Moreover, schools, colleges, commercial establishments, and government offices also remained open.

Incidentally, a man was detained in the city for supporting the Assam Bandh. The man yet to be identified was seen shouting slogans against the chief of ULFA and the pro-talk leader of ULFA. A video circulating on social media had the man shouting on the road, “Ami Axomiya (We are Assamese). Kun Paresh Barua? Kun Mrinal Hazarika? (Who is Paresh Baruah, who is Mrinal Hazarika),”.

According to local media reports, a few supporters of the bandh attempted to spark violence with provocative remarks, however, police has detained them.
