The investigation began after singer Bhoomi Trivedi had earlier filed a complaint on July 11 for account theft and 68 companies were found providing such.

About 48 percent of Instagram followers of both celebrities are questioned to be fake or bots and the Mumbai Crime Branch is now investigating an international racket.

After initiating an investigation, the police found one French website followerskart.in and the Ministry of External Affairs has written to the French government seeking details of the company.

The Crime Branch has arrested two persons from Mumbai in this case who run AMVSMM, providing the same services which are said to have been used by most B-grade celebrities and small companies.
