Roads Blocked, Tree Branches Chopped Off For Amit Shah's Visit

 

GUWAHATI: Residents of Guwahati are facing severe disruptions in their daily lives ahead of Union Minister Amit Shah's visit. Roads are blocked, causing traffic jams and thus being a reason of inconvenience to the public.

Moreover, even tree branches that are protruding out into the roads have been chopped off, for reasons unknown.

Nayan Deka, a commuter in Jalukbari, expressed his frustration, saying, "Most of the roads are blocked because of Amit Shah's visit. It's frustrating and feels like harassment for the public."

A resident in Lal Ganesh complained, "The entire stretch from Lal Ganesh to Cycle Factory has been blocked for almost two days due to Amit Shah's visit. They have even cut down trees. This is complete nuisance. Every time a VIP visits, the public is harassed."

Joy Das, a daily bus commuter in Beltola talking to GPlus, "There are very few buses today. There were none in Beltola, so I had to take an e-rickshaw to the supermarket."

Talking to GPlus, a senior official from the Bus Association said, "Today, at least 100 buses are being used for this program, and the rest are deployed for elections."
