GUWAHATI: Noonmati police have arrested a resident of Kareng Niwas, Narengi, for his alleged involvement in fraudulent land acquisition on Wednesday, May 15.

The arrest was made following a complaint by Ratul Bora, a member of Communist Party of India (CPI).

The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Jogeshwar Nath, was apprehended on Wednesday. Nath is accused of illegally seizing a plot of land belonging to the CPI.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Noonmati police station said, "The accused is not actually a broker. He was produced in court today (May 16) and is now in judicial custody. However, investigation is under way as more documents related to the case are yet to be produced."
