Indian Vice-President To Visit Guwahati On Feb 13

GUWAHATI: The Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankar is set to visit Guwahati tomorrow Tuesday, February 13 as the Chief Guest for the award distribution ceremony of the state Civilian Awards including Assam Baibhav, Assam Saurav and Assam Gaurav. 

Assam State Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pijush Hazarika announced on X today, “On February 13, Hon'ble Vice President Shri @Jagdeepdhankha will join the grand celebration of the Assam State Civilian Award 2024. My best wishes to all the well-deserved recipients of the coveted award.” 

The ceremony is set to take place on Tuesday, February 13, at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati where the Vice-President will reportedly confer the prestigious awards. 

The Assam Government had earlier on January16 announced the names of the individuals to be conferred with the highest Civilian Awards of the state, including Ranjan Gogoi, the Member of Parliament and former Chief Justice of India who will receive the Assam Baibhav, the state’s highest civilian award. 

The Assam Saurav will be awarded to four individuals including Dr. Kishan Chand Nauriyal, Elvis Ali Hazarika, Hima Das, and Nadiram Deuri, while Assam Gaurav will be awarded to 17 people including Parvati Barua, Debojit Changmai, Drono Bhuyan, Neelan Dutta, Anupama Deka, Soumyadeep Dutta, Basanta Chiring Phukan, Manendra Deka, Meenakshi Chetia, Pakhila Lethtepi, Tenzing Bodosa, Nirmal Dey, Jecin Kumbang Pao, Mary Hassa, Upendra Rabha and Rahul Gupta.
