Coronavirus Update : Indian Government Mandates Wearing of Masks in Public

GUWAHATI: Wearing of face cover is compulsory in all public places and work places, states the revised guidelines for lockdown prepared by the government of India.

The directive further emphasizes on maintaining of social distancing by all persons in charge of public places, work places and transport, as per norms of the ministry of health and family welfare.

No organisation / manager of public place can allow gathering of 5 or more persons while gatherings such as marriages and funerals shall remain regulated by the district magistrate.

The government has further put a strict ban on sale of liquor, gutka, and tobacco and has reinstated that spitting in public is a punishable offence.

Additionally, the government has issued certain guidelines for work spaces which include adequate arrangements for temperature screening, availability of sanitizers, gap of one hour in between shifts, proper lunch break for staff and prohibition of large meeting.
