GUWAHATI: Premlal Ganju, a prominent figure within the Indian National Congress (INC), on March 26 filed his nomination for the first phase of polls in Assam, scheduled to take place on April 19.

Ganju, aged 53 and hailing from Kamarpukhuri in Borgang, Behali Biswanath, submitted his nomination papers for the Sonitpur parliamentary constituency.
Accompanied by Pradesh Congress president Bhupen Kumar Borah and the party's Dhubri contestant and sitting MLA Rakibul Hussain, Ganju arrived at the nomination venue to formalise his candidacy.

Ganju's nomination signals the beginning of an intense electoral campaign in Assam, where the INC aims to make significant inroads in the upcoming polls.
