In a meeting held at New Delhi on Monday, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) announced that the implementation of the new tariff has to be completed within February 1st.

Failing this, distribution platform operators would face severe consequences such as blackout by the broadcasters and license cancellation.

“The regulator made it clear that DPOs failing to implement the order within the given timeline will face blackout (by broadcasters). It also said that it will suggest to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that licences of defaulter DPOs be revoked,” said a source close to the development.
