Burglary Gang Nabbed In Guwahati’s Basistha, Stolen Items Recovered

 

GUWAHATI: A team from Basistha Police Station arrested a notorious burglary gang following a theft at a residence in Uttam Path. The incident occurred while the family was away, and burglars reportedly made off with several valuable household items, including a television, brass utensils, clothing, and sanitary products.

The team acted quickly upon receiving the report, tracing the culprits. The gang had concealed the stolen items in a jungle area in Patarkuchi, where police successfully recovered them during their operation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Suman Basumatary, also known as Samba (25) from Udalguri; Bishal Das, aka Bangal (18) from Goalpara; Nandeshwar Rohang, known as Nande (18) from Kamrup (M); Deep Bania, also known as Khepu or Babu (21) from Darrang; and Vivek Brahma, known as Tikla (18) from Kamrup (M).

The recovered items included four bell metal plates, eight bell metal bowls, four steel bathroom taps, two brass glasses, two burglary rods, and a red-coloured bag.

The investigation is ongoing, with police examining possible links to other criminal activities.
