GUWAHATI: A case of suicide in Dergaon, Golaghat district, has come to light with a woman allegedly ending her life due to continuous mistreatment by her husband. The deceased, Jimpi Saikia, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room.

A complaint was filed by Jimpi’s family. Subsequently, her husband was arrested on Monday, February 10. He is now in judicial custody.
A suicide note recovered by the police detailed the abuse she endured, citing her husband’s cruelty as the primary reason for her drastic step.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from Dergaon police station confirmed the arrest, stating, “A woman’s body was found hanging. She was allegedly mistreated by her husband. A complaint was filed and her husband was arrested and sent to Golaghat jail. Further investigation is underway.”
However, the police have not disclosed the husband’s identity.
