Describing the incident which took place on Friday, May 2, as grave, Boro assured that strict action would be taken to bring those responsible to justice. “This is a serious matter. We will not tolerate any threat to our wildlife and will ensure strict action against those involved,” Boro told reporters.

He also stressed that the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government would treat the matter with utmost seriousness and initiate all necessary steps to curb such crimes.

Boro further noted that poaching in the BTC region had seen a marked decline in recent years due to sustained anti-poaching measures. He cited a key initiative under which several former poachers had surrendered their homemade firearms and hunting tools.

These individuals were subsequently supported with one-time financial aid to help them transition to alternate livelihoods.

Boro further called for active community participation to strengthen conservation efforts. “We must all come together to protect our precious wildlife and natural heritage,” he said, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities related to poaching or illegal wildlife trade.
