GUWAHATI: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) on Friday issued a notification stating the launch of the Darpan portal to process the admission of students into Higher Secondary (HS) first-year courses for the upcoming session 2023-24.
The portal named ‘DARPAN’ shall be live from May 29 to June 17.
The ‘DARPAN’ portal aims to simplify the admission process for students in Assam, providing them with a seamless and efficient way to apply for admission to higher secondary courses.
The notification stated, "the students will be able to submit their applications online for admission into different institutions by visiting www.darpan.ahseconline.in or www.ahsec.assam.gov."
As per the notification, a student can only apply to five institutions.
Students are urged to use their login ID in the portal as soon as possible after the release of the Selection List to accept just one admission that has been given by the institution for admission. Once approved, a student won't be able to switch institutions. The student must enrol in the relevant institution within the allotted time frame to finish the admissions procedure. At the time of acceptance, students will be able to switch to their desired subject(s) or stream, however, the institution in question will need to update the same.
How to Use Darpan Portal?
To use the 'Darpan' Portal for HS First-Year Admissions, students must first access the portal through the official website of the AHSEC. Once they have accessed the portal, they will need to create a new account and provide their details, educational qualifications, and contact information. They will also need to upload scanned copies of their academic certificates, passport-sized photographs, and signatures. After completing the registration process, students can fill out the application form online and submit it through the portal. They will also need to pay the application fee online through the portal using a debit card/credit card or net banking. Once the application is submitted, students can track their application status through the portal and receive notifications about important dates and deadlines.
Important Dates for the Applicants
Submission of online applications by applicants – May 29 – June 9, 2023
Preparation of selection list/waiting list by the institution – June 10 – 12, 2023
Publication of provincial selection list/waiting list – June 12 (Midnight)
Acceptance of admission by students – June 13 – 15, 2023
Confirmation of admission by institutions in DARPAN – June 16 – 17, 2023
“No offline admissions will be conducted by the institution. The registration process for session 2023-24 will be started in the 1st week of August 2023 and only those students will be allowed to complete the registration process who have completed the admission process through "DARPAN" portal,” further read the notification.
