GUWAHATI: Assam State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma donated Rs. 1.5 lakh to fight against COVID-19.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Sarma wrote, "I have donated Rs 1 Lakh towards #PMCaresFund & Rs 50,000 in Assam Arogya Nidhi from my salary of March 2020.
Each one of us, as per our capacities, should join this campaign and contribute towards tackling #COVID pandemic. This is going to be a long battle."
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has donated one month's salary to the PM-CARES Fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The amount donated to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund or PM-CARES Fund will be used to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
