GUWAHATI: Dhing Express, Hima Das, might not be able to take part in the upcoming World Relays competition after she was diagnosed with spondylitis of the lumbar vertebrae, the lower back. The diagnosis has forced the 20-year-old athlete to take rest for a while.

This year's  World Relays is going to be held Yokohama, Japan from 11 to 12 May.

If Das is compelled to take rest for long, she will miss the second consecutive competition after the Asian Athletics Championship that held last month at Doha. Das could not participate in the event due to back spasm.

The Indian Express quoted India's deputy chief national coach Radhakrishnan Nair as saying that  Das will have to take rest and requires rehabilitation as part of her recovery.
