GUWAHATI: A huge consignment of drugs was seized by police on Sunday at Jorabat and arrested three smugglers from Manipur.
Acting on specific intelligence input, Jorabat OP and another team from Central Guwahati Police District intercepted an SUV at Jorabat, and upon searching the vehicle, the team recovered 198 soap boxes worth 2.527 kilogram of heroin.
Police also apprehended 3 smugglers along with the drugs consignment. They have been identified as Amir Khan aged 31, Mohammad Yakup aged 29, and Mohammad Jamir aged 34 years. All of them are from Thoubal district of Manipur.
The estimated market value of the seized consignment of heroin is estimated to be about ₹21 crore.
All the three smugglers have been booked under NDPS Act, and were produced before a court in Kamrup Metro on Monday.
