GUWAHATI: The Basistha Police Station (PS) team apprehended a suspect and seized a significant amount of suspected heroin in Guwahati, in an early morning operation on Tuesday, June 11. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid around 7 am at Koinadhara, and arrested 30-year-old Bishnu Rai from Maha Maya village in the Bogoribari area of Kokrajhar district.

During the operation, the police recovered 26 plastic containers, each filled with a substance believed to be heroin. The total weight of the substance, including the containers, amounted to 35 grams. In addition to the drugs, the police also seized ₹2,110 in cash and a mobile handset from the suspect’s possession.
Rai, the suspect, was taken into custody. Police officials have confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
