Heavy Traffic Expected In Guwahati Today Ahead Of IPL Clash Between RR And CSK

GUWAHATI: The city of Guwahati is expected to witness heavy traffic congestion today, March 30, as it hosts the much-awaited IPL 2025 clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati. The presence of iconic cricketer MS Dhoni and a scheduled performance by actress Sara Khan are likely to draw large crowds.

To mitigate congestion and maintain public safety, the Guwahati Traffic Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic regulation plan. The advisory, originally issued on March 25 in anticipation of the matches on March 26 and March 30, outlines a series of restrictions in effect from 2 PM to midnight today.

Several major roads- including G.S. Road, A.K. Azad Road, M.G. Road, and A.T. Road will face access limitations, particularly for commercial and slow-moving vehicles. A.K. Azad Road will function as a one-way route from Lalganesh Tiniali to Cycle Factory Tiniali from 3 PM, while Kula Basumatary Road will allow only one-way traffic from Barsapara Tiniali to Dhirenpara Tiniali.

Vehicles without valid car passes will be rerouted at Lalganesh Tiniali towards Kahilipara Road to ease congestion near the stadium. From 4:30 PM onwards, only pass-holding vehicles will be permitted on designated routes. Drop-off zones have been arranged at Barsapara Tiniali and Dhirenpara Tiniali, with strict no-parking enforcement on A.K. Azad Road and A.K. Dev Road, barring marked parallel parking areas.

The ACA Stadium will manage entry through six designated gates, with specific access points for players, VIPs, and general spectators. Authorities confirmed that emergency vehicles, school buses, and local residents will not be impacted by the restrictions.

The day’s maximum temperature is expected to reach 34°C
