GURUGRAM: In the 2nd Edition of the afaqs! Digipub Awards 2018, a convention for web publishers across India, Guwahati based media professional, Sidharth Bedi Varma from city-based publication GPlus bagged the award for the Best Columnist in India, with a Gold trophy.
The award was accorded to him for his column ‘Guwahati Adda’, published on Guwahati Plus (G Plus), the city-based popular print and digital publication.
According to the writer, ‘Guwahati Adda’ is an informal conversation between 2 or more people about current issues and challenges that affect the city of Guwahati and is often identified with its localized language, local references and contexts.
“I think it’s the insight from the streets of the city with an informal style in storytelling that made more of an impact for the prestigious jury members,” said Sidharth said.
The MD and Publisher of G Plus, Sunit Jain said, ”GPlus has been creating content and sharing stories not only from the streets of Guwahati but from the heart of most Guwahatians which makes it the most awarded publication in the digital news section”
