Guwahati Witnesses Decreasing Trend of COVID Cases in 2nd Week of Lockdown

GUWAHATI: Kamrup (M) district that includes Guwahati has witnessed a dip in the COVID-19 positive cases during the second week of the lockdown.

Going by the latest trends over the last few days, on July 7 Guwahati had recorded 588 positive cases, on July 8, 423 cases whereas on July 9 the Assam health minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that the city reported only 355 positive cases.

Between July 3 and July 7, about 3,700 rapid antigen tests were conducted in Pandu area of Guwahati and the same test will be conducted today again in Pandu, which is regarded as the hot bed for the virus, and in Maligaon.

Earlier, the Assam government has imposed a total lockdown in the entire Kamrup District starting from June 28 midnight for 14 days till July 12.
