Only a few hours after he fled from police custody, Ajizul Ali was rearrested from Guwahati’s Panjabari area on June 22. Ali was arrested in connection with the Ugratara temple idol theft case and had escaped from Latasil police custody on Wednesday, June 22.
Ali was arrested on June 19 and was the prime accused in the case. He hails from Barama in Assam’s Baksa district.

As per reports, Ali fled the police custody when he was taken to his resident here in Juripar area of the city for investigation purpose.
It should be mentioned that the Ugratara temple statue was stolen from the temple on the night of November 15 last year.
