Guwahati To Introduce Passenger Ropeway Connecting LGBI Airport With City

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government is planning to introduce a passenger ropeway connecting the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport with the Guwahati city.

Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma informed about this while releasing the Sankalp Patra of BJP for the GMC Polls on Monday, April 11.

A top company has been appointed for the consultancy of the construction plan of the passenger ropeway, CM Sarma said.

This decision has been taken to ensure the free flow of traffic in the city. Moreover, the Government has decided to implement an integrated traffic management system.

However, the ropeway will not be a tourist ropeway. Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that the vision is to link the LGBI airport to any specific location in the city.

The Assam CM said, "This is not a dream, Varanasi has already made this possible. The ropeway passenger traffic system can be implemented in the most cost-effective way."
