GUWAHATI: Guwahati has been selected as one of the venues for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup later this year. The Barsapara cricket stadium is expected to host five to six matches during the tournament, scheduled from September 24 to November 2.

This was revealed by BCCI General Secretary Devajit Saikia on Sunday, March 23.
Besides, the city will also stage its maiden Test match when India take on South Africa in the second game of a two-match series from November 22.
“No Test or World Cup matches have been played in Guwahati before. However, following the BCCI apex council’s decision on Saturday, the city will host both this year,” Saikia said.
Guwahati has hosted men’s ODIs earlier and IPL matches.
