GUWAHATI: The third edition of the Khelo India Youth Games will be hosted by Guwahati in January 2020.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal while chairing the first high-powered review meeting in Janata Bhawan in Guwahati said that the state machinery, including sports bodies should make the best innovation for successfully organising the games in the city.
CM Sonowal asked Director of Sports Authority of India, Assam, Subhash Basumatary to make a complete assessment of all sports venues including the available infrastructure and take up the refurbishing work at the earliest.
Further, Sonowal also asked Additional Director General of Police Harmeet Kaur and Mukesh Agarwala to make foolproof security arrangements for the games.
It may be noted that the Khelo India Youth Games will feature sports disciplines such as archery, basketball, badminton, boxing, football, gymnastics, hockey, judo, kabbadi, khokho, shooting, swimming, table tennis, lawn tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling etc.
