Guwahati: Tender Floated For Two-Lane Elevated Junction At Bharalumukh Railway Gate

GUWAHATI: A tender has been floated for the construction of an elevated road junction over the Railway Gate number 9 at Bharalumukh point, Guwahati. G Plus had earlier reported that the Assam Government has approved the construction of an elevated road junction over the railway crossing at the Bharalumukh point.

The Public Works Department (Roads) after checking the feasibility of the proposed elevated junction had invited a consultancy service for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The last date for submission of the proposal is January 24.

The Paschim Guwahati Nagorik Sajagata Mancha of Bharalumukh, who proposed the construction of the junction, held a press conference today, January 20.

The PWD (Roads) has proposed Rs 119.3806 lakh for preparing the DPR for the construction of the two-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Railway Gate number 9 connecting Mahatma Gandhi Road and RK Choudhury Road.

The Senior Technical Advisor of GMDA J N Khatoniar, who submitted the concept report, informed that the existing bridges on the Bharalu river will not be demolished for the project.
"The elevated junction will be constructed over the existing bridges," he said.

The total expense of the project will be covered by the Assam Government and the Railways at a 50:50 ratio. The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 300 crore.

The Paschim Guwahati Nagorik Sajagata Mancha thanked the Government for expediting the construction of the much needed ROB over the railway level crossing.
