GUWAHATI: Guwahati residents have shown reluctance to use the designated garbage bins of the city. As a result of which the garbage has to be collected by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) workers who then shift it to the designated trash bins.
This has increased the work-load of the existing workers who claim to be overworked already.
In the Hengrabari-Japorigog road, the garbage was found littered outside the bins. G Plus spoke to a GMC worker of the area who stated, "This automatically reduces the effectiveness of the garbage collections trucks which can only lift the designated garbage."
The GMC truck operators that came to load the garbage from the bins into the truck claimed ineffectiveness in the system due to lack of civic sense.
