Guwahati Railway Station to completely run on Solar Power

Guwahati Railway Station has become the first in entire North East region to completely run on solar power.

The initiative is undertaken by Indian Railway to substantially review electricity cost. As an easy way to cut down the consumption of electricity, the Railways decided to completely run on solar power, across the nation.

The solar power plant at Guwahati Railway Station was commissioned in April 2017.

The solar power plant is expected to not only reduce the carbon footprint, but also reduce cost of electricity.

The 700 KWp grid interactive solar power plant has been set up over the roof of the Guwahati Railway Station

Reportedly, the total cost of the solar power project is approximately Rs 6.7 crore

 

The average generation of solar power plant per day is 2048 KWh

According to sources, 2,352 solar modules have been installed at the roof-top solar power plant

This is the first of its kind initiative in northeast India, and the initiative has been of great benefit, said sources at NFR​​​​​​​

Officials at the Northeast Frontier Railway while talking to G Plus said that the department will make an official announcement regarding the soalr initiative today evening.
