IMD’s daily weather report highlighted the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds ranging between 40 to 50 kmph at isolated places in Assam. A continuation of light to moderate rainfall was also recorded at a few locations in the preceding 24 hours.

As per the latest predictions, Guwahati and its adjoining areas will witness cloudy skies with occasional rain or thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperatures for this period are likely to hover around 31°C and 22°C, respectively.

Forecasts for the next few days also indicate a similar pattern, as moderate rainfall is very likely at many places across Assam. Thunderstorm activity accompanied by gusty winds may persist as well, especially in isolated pockets.
Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm activity, advising residents to stay alert during the festive period.

The weather department has attributed the unsettled weather to a combination of upper air cyclonic circulations over Bangladesh and a trough extending across parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
