GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police prevented an attempt by scammers to siphon off ₹90,000 from a local resident.

In a response to an online fraud complaint by Bijay Dey of Adabari, the Cyber Police Station in Guwahati managed to block the transfer of ₹87,000. The police were able to recover ₹49,000 of the defrauded amount, which has been credited back to the victim’s bank account on Wednesday, June 19.
According to a statement from the Guwahati Police, Dey reported that he had been swindled out of ₹90,000 by cybercriminals. Acting on the complaint, a specialised team from the Cyber PS traced the fraudulent transaction and intervened to prevent the transfer of a substantial portion of the stolen funds.

The remainder of the money is expected to be credited back to the victim’s bank account soon. Further details are awaited.
