GUWAHATI: The iconic Rabindra Bhawan, a cornerstone of Guwahati’s vibrant cultural scene, is set to receive a comprehensive upgrade. The Assam government has unveiled an ambitious ₹111 crore redevelopment project aimed at modernising this historic venue and enhancing its facilities.
Located in the heart of Guwahati, the Rabindra Bhawan has been a hub for artistic and cultural activities for decades. Known for hosting a wide array of programmes—from theatrical performances and musical concerts to art exhibitions—the complex is now poised for a transformation.

The redevelopment plan includes the construction of a state-of-the-art facility that will span approximately 1,58,786 square feet. The new structure will be a 2B + G + 5 configuration, bringing a modern aesthetic while preserving the complex's cultural essence.
Key features of the upgraded complex will include:
• 500-seat main auditorium
• Multiple smaller auditoriums
• Art galleries
• Black Box Theatre recording studio
• Office spaces
• Guest rooms
• Parking facilities
