GUWAHATI: In a serious violation of animal rights, a cat has succumbed to injuries after a resident of Panjabari, Guwahati beat the feline with a stick.
The person allegedly involved in the matter has been recognized as Jyoti Pathak, the owner of a grocery shop at Juripar Panjabari Road Guwahati, near Kalakhetra.
An FIR has been lodged in Dispur Police Station regarding the matter. The man had been arrested and now has been released on bail, Dispur Police confirmed to G Plus.

A viral video has surfaced where the person in question was seen beating the cat with a stick. Following this, three people rescued the cat from the scene and took it to the nearest veterinary facility.
The cat died on 23rd September, three days after the incident.
