GUWAHATI: In an accident on NH 17 near Palashbari on Tuesday, July 9, a speeding vehicle hit a two-wheeler, leaving the rider dead at the scene. The four-wheeler responsible for the accident fled immediately after the incident.

The victim, Shrikant Chaudhary, a resident of Bongara, was on his way to Mirza on his two-wheeler when he was struck from behind by the unidentified vehicle. The collision resulted in severe disruptions to traffic on the highway.
Palashbari Police arrived to manage the situation. An official from the Palashbari police station told GPlus, "The incident occurred around 7:30 PM. The locals were unable to note the vehicle's registration number. However, an investigation is underway. The body has been sent for further medical examination."
