Guwahati: No Point Dreaming Of Twin Towers Anymore, Says Assam CM

GUWAHATI: The proposed twin towers by former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in the National Highway remains a dream as the present Chief Minister said that the Integrated Directorate building at Betkuchi will be like a twin tower.

"There is no point in dreaming of the twin towers anymore. If we can build an IIM or a Central University in place of the twin tower, it will be more beneficial for us. The Directorate Building in Betkuchi has been designed like a twin tower. Through this, I have fulfilled Sarbananda Sonowal's dream of the twin towers and the land saved for the twin towers would be used for some other purpose,” said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking to the media.

It has been four years since the signing of an agreement with the National Building Construction Company (NBCC) for the construction of the twin towers but the work did not start at the project site.

The State Government's Investment criteria for the ₹2,000 crore project could not really attract investors, as per reports. In view of this, the NBCC also steered away from the responsibility of this project.

With the laying of the foundation of the Integrated Directorate Complex in Betkuchi, Guwahati, the Chief Minister has claimed to have fulfilled the dream of the former CM of constructing the twin towers since the Integrated Directorate Complex, as the 3D rendering of the entire infrastructure suggests, replicates the twin towers.
