GUWAHATI: The condition of roads in Guwahati's Uzanbazar area has become a matter of concern for residents and commuters, as numerous stretches are riddled with potholes and uneven surfaces. The deteriorating infrastructure has not only made daily travel cumbersome but also poses risks to commuters’ safety.

Locals complain that the roads have been in poor condition for months, with little to no effort made by the authorities for repair and maintenance. "The roads here are a nightmare, especially during the rainy season when potholes turn into water-filled craters," said a daily commuter.
The situation is particularly dire in residential lanes and near key landmarks, such as Kharghuli, Barowari and near Chenikuthi where road damage disrupts traffic flow. Residents also raised concerns over the impact on emergency services, as ambulances and fire trucks struggle to navigate the area.
A source in Dispur while talking to GPlus said, “PWD is not getting the funds for the restorations of roads as we are busy with other projects.”
Similarly, all over Guwahati the restoration of roads which are damaged due to projects by GJB or PBGPL are on hold due to the same reasons, as stated by the same source.
It is to be seen how the situation is tackled as the residents have to bear the brunt of the damaged roads in the area for an indefinite period of time.
