Guwahati Man Receives Stone in Flipkart Parcel

In a bizarre incident involving e-commerce company Flipkart, a Guwahati resident received a block of stone in place of a pair of earphones.

Umang Patodia was expecting to receive OnePlus Nord ear pods in his Flipkart package, but he was shocked to see a small block of stone instead. Speaking to G Plus, Patodia confirmed the unusual event and expressed his immense disappointment at the same. "I received the parcel in the morning. There was another product present in the package that was delivered accurately, but the box contained only the stone," he told G Plus.

"I paid for the parcel while placing the order on Flipkart and the money was immediately deducted. When I got in touch with their customer care, their lackadaisical approach towards the situation has not made me hopeful of a positive outcome. I have shared my ordeal on Twitter, tagging their customer service handles. Flipkart has however assured me of a solution after much discussion. I have to wait for the next 4 days to check the refund status," Patodia said.

After the initial text discussion on Flipkart's customer care, Patodia was then put in touch with a senior customer service executive. They assured him of the matter being resolved in 2 days. He received another notification this afternoon which confirmed that Flipkart would only be able to address his concerns on or after March 26, which is four days from now.

"It is harassment for common folks like us," Patodia rues. He further asserts, "These companies must be made accountable for their mistakes. I hope no one goes through what I did."

In a similar instance involving Flipkart, a Meerut-based businessman Sudhir Kumar was delivered a box that was supposed to contain a cell phone he had ordered, but instead contained a stone. Controversy followed as Flipkart, in a public statement, sought 12 days to investigate the matter and find a solution. The statement also mentioned that the e-commerce site observes a zero-tolerance policy for incidents that impact customer trust.
