GUWAHATI: With the extended lockdown implemented across the nation, Assam too has implemented a series of rules and regulations with regard to easing the restrictions.

With the hint of the hustle back on the streets of the city, ASTC buses were seen operating and also people in cars and on bikes are in the process of restoring their normal activities that had been halted over the past one and half months.

However, a latest diktat from the DC Kamrup (M) has ordered all business owners/ shopkeepers (except essential commodities/pharmacies) not to open their business establishments on Monday, May 4th till 12 noon.

Further, the DC will meet various organisations tomorrow and only then announce the opening of shops officially.

The other business establishments that are breathing back are those shops which are stand alone; all eateries will be allowed to open with only takeaways and home delivery to be allowed in the city.

Meanwhile Assam State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that all persons below 12 years and above 65 years of age have been restricted from coming out of their houses during the lockdown except in case of medical emergencies. Curfew has been imposed in the state everyday from 6 PM to 6 AM.

This new set of rules and regulations will hopefully benefit the people of Assam including Guwahati in the fight against the worldwide pandemic.
