GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) district administration is set to start an eviction drive in the areas of government and semi-government properties, which have been encroached by people and businesses.

This comes after the Gauhati High Court (HC) issued an order to the district administration from a PIL filed regarding the matter. Following the order, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration has asked all the families, individuals or organisations, who have illegally occupied lands to vacate the premises within 30 days.
No individual notices will be sent to businesses or residences which have been encroaching on government lands.
G Plus spoke to Deputy Commisioner (DC) Kamrup Metro Biswajit Pegu who stated that the encroachment drive will be started after 30 days. "There are many lands allocated for government and semi-government offices, which have been encroached," said Pegu.
The areas include various office lands, like the Jyoti Chitraban in Kahilipara area of Guwahati, as per an official.
