GUWAHATI: The long-shut gyms and malls of Guwahati are likely to be allowed to open during Unlock-3 starting from August 3.
This was indicated by the health and education minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, during a press conference from Janata Bhawan today.

However, no official notification has yet been issued in this regard and the same is expected to be formalized by the government through an official note likely to be issued later in the evening or by tomorrow.
Even though the gyms and malls might be allowed to open, the minister said that they would have to follow the alternate day policy of establishments being open on one side of the street every alternate day.
Guwahati is currently a hotbed of Covid-19 even though the number of positive cases was showing a downward trend over the last week.
Sarma has said that inter-district movement of people will be allowed on specific days.
The Unlock-3 guidelines are expected to lift more restrictions on the path to normalizing life and recharging the economy and trade activities.
