Guwahati Guy’s Facebook Post against Sections of Media throws light on ‘Bad Journalists’

In an era where media moral policing is discouraged and is considered one of the lowest forms of making opinions, a Guwahati guy’s post against fellow journalists has taken the internet by storm.

Partha Satyanveshi, (as he goes by his Facebook name), lambasted certain journalists for putting up a photo of women/girls dressed in sarees outside a liquor shop with the caption ‘Saraswati puja special’.

Partha identified the owner of the post as a journalist of a leading media house from the region.  Partha slammed the journos for posting the image on their social media accounts stating that journalists have to be more responsible to the public as they command a lot of following and presence on public platforms.

The post by Partha went viral and was picked up by several other people and alternative media channels who slammed the journalists for updating such a photo.

Manash, a Guwahatian told G Plus that, “I think the photo was meant to show how women on this festive occasion were indulging in certain vices and habits that possibly reflects poorly on women. However, this is only in the eyes of a certain section of the media and not everyone. We aren’t generalizing, but several journalists across the city are indulging in such shabby journalistic practices. I think that it is liberating to see that the two women were comfortable in the space, doing what they wanted to do, possibly buying whatever they wanted to. No one else has the right to comment or judge.”

The post drew a lot of reactions from people across social media, and one of the journalists’ was forced to issue a public apology.

This shows how powerful people can be if they come together! Way to go!
