GUWAHATI: In an order issued by Ripul Das, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Police District, Guwahati on October 19, the use of fireworks and bursting of crackers within 500 metres radius from Guwahati Refinery, Noonmati and the Oil pipelines passing through Central Police District has been prohibited with immediate effect until midnight of October 29, 2019.
This order has been issued as the bursting of crackers and fireworks may cause inflammation/fire etc., as huge quantities of highly volatile and inflammable petroleum products are stored in the aforementioned areas.
Based on the order, this could cause imminent danger to the safety and security of the installation and residents residing in the vicinity of those areas.
