Guwahati: Extended Wing of Ganeshguri Flyover Inaugurated Today

GUWAHATI: The much-hyped extended wing of the Ganeshguri Flyover in Guwahati has been inaugurated today, 22nd October on the occasion of ‘shasthi puja’. 


The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Public Works Department (PWD) minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Guwahati Development Department (GDD) minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya among other officials.


The wing connecting R.G Baruah Road to the old Ganeshguri flyover is anticipated to curb the traffic congestion at the Ganeshguri point and is inaugurated within the promised time. Its foundation was laid on 6th March, 2019 and its construction has been completed before the scheduled time of 6th March 2021.


The total length of the flyover wing is 425.5 meters and the carriageway (width) of the flyover is 27 meters. The flyover has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 58.74 crore.


“The newly built 425.5 m flyover in Ganeshguri, worth Rs 58.74cr, is an epitome of the dedication shown by PWD team amid #COVID adversities,” tweeted PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
