Guwahati: Corruption Allegations Levelled Against Bharalumukh Police Station

GUWAHATI: Corruption charges have been levelled against Bharalumukh Police Station (PS) over an alleged demand of a bribe for verification of insurance papers of a stolen vehicle.

One Aman Maharaj's Pulsar 220 was stolen from Kedar Road near his workplace on 21st September last. Following this, he had filed a case at the Bharalumukh Police Station.

The Police Station called Aman for the verification process. Since he was out of station, Aman's father went instead. As alleged by Aman, his father was asked for 25% of the insurance claim money. Aman's father rejected the demand which was later lowered to a demand of 10%. The complainants further alleged lack of cooperation from the PS on their insurance work.

G Plus contacted the second officer-in-charge of Bharalumukh PS who assured that the papers would be cleared. "Let them come to the station with proper papers. They don’t have to worry, it will be done," said the official.

Meanwhile, GP Singh, ADGP (law and order) has responded to the complaint raised on Whatsapp and asked for the case number to look into the matter.
