Guwahati: 21-year-old woman rescued from trafficker at Kamakhya Railway Station

GUWAHATI: A 21-year-old woman from Sivasagar was rescued from a human trafficker as part of a special drive carried out by Government Railway Police (GRP) yesterday, June 17 from Kamakhya Railway Station in Guwahati.

According to a report by The Assam Tribune, the man has been arrested and identified as Nabaratna Goswami (26), and hails from Uttar Pradesh.

He befriended the victim on Facebook and proposed to marry her. However, he was reportedly planning to take her to Delhi to sell her off.

The man was produced in court today, June 18 and has been sentenced to jail. A case has also been registered at the GRP, Kamakhya Railway Station.
