Gunotsav in health sector; Dedicated medical recruitment board to appoint doctors in state

State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that Gunotsav evaluation scheme will be implemented in the health sector very soon.

He also said that APSC would not have any authority over recruitment of doctors in the state. A dedicated medical service recruitment board will be set up by the government which will look after the appointment of the doctors in Assam. Simanta Thakuria has been appointed as the Chairman of the board.

An evaluation scheme called 'Swasthya Sewa Utsav' similar to that of Gunotsav will be implemented in the healthcare sector of the state.

Under the scheme, the health department of the state will evaluate the healthcare facilities, cleanliness and grade system of the medicals and other health centres of the state.

Speaking to the media, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "Within June 30th, 800 posts in the health department would be filled up.'

"Each constituency in Assam will have 2 medical colleges under the newly set up board, " added Himanta.
