Gold Worth Over ₹3 Crore Seized At Kamakhya Railway Station

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Customs along with the Railway Police Force (RPF), seized gold valued at ₹3.24 crore in Kamakhya Railway Station on March 10.

The seizure took place at Kamakhya Railway Station, where the customs team intercepted an individual attempting to board the Avadh Assam Express. 

The 29 pieces of gold bars, weighing a total of 4814.57 gram and concealed around the suspect's waist, were confiscated by the authorities.

Talking to GPlus, a police official from RPF Kamakhya said, “Customs officials nabbed him on March 10, in possession of the gold. The estimated value of the gold is more than ₹3 crore. Investigations are underway now.”


Further investigations are underway to determine the origin and intended destination of the seized gold, while the individual involved is likely to face legal consequences for attempting to smuggle a significant amount of precious metal.
