GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has stated that this year, girl students scoring a minimum of 60 percent marks and boys scoring a minimum of 75 percent marks in their Higher Secondary examinations would be awarded with a scooter by the government as per the Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme. The Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu informed about the decision yesterday, August 18, while addressing the media.

Ranoj Pegu said, “The students who did not get the qualifying marks are not eligible for the award anyway, but there were students who received genuine qualifying marks and did not receive the award in the previous years. We verified the facts against these students through mail and so far, 90 students have been awarded.”

“Since, there was COVID-19 prevalent last year, the examinations weren’t held, therefore, we also did not grant the award. But this year, examinations were held and we will be giving out a scooter to all eligible candidates. Girl students with a minimum of 60 percent marks and boys with a minimum of 75 percent marks would be awarded with a scooter under the Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme,” the minister added further.
