GUWAHATI: Consequent to an issue raised by G Plus regarding sparks emanating from the welding work of the foot-over bridge construction and thereafter the same falling freely on the passing traffic below, the Public Works Department (PWD) has assured intervention and would look into the matter.
"I was driving my bike and I could feel sparks falling on me. It has become difficult to commute in the area," a resident from Chachal, VIP Road told G Plus.
Currently, there are major constructions going on around the Ganeshguri vicinity: one before the Post Office signal, the other in front of JB's Sweets, and one opposite the Kar Bhawan. The sparks from the construction fall on the passersby, especially from the two foot-over bridges being constructed on the Christian Basti side.
Meanwhile, the PWD has assured G Plus of adding some protection to the foot over bridge being constructed opposite the Kar Bhawan. "We will add a protective cover to the bottom so that sparks don't fall below," said Pranab Rabha, Executive Engineer PWD.
