Four Juveniles Arrested In Assam Over Charges Of Raping A Minor

 

GUWAHATI: In a significant development, Assam Police have taken four juveniles into custody in connection with a gang rape incident that occurred in the Kokrajhar district of Assam.

The incident, which unfolded approximately two months ago on the banks of the River Champa, involved a minor girl who had gone to bathe.

The incident only came to light on Friday when the victim confided in her mother about the ordeal.

 

Assam's Director General of Police, GP Singh, revealed details of the incident on his official Twitter handle.

According to his tweet, at around 1 PM on Friday, the Salakati Outpost in Kokrajhar received a report from an informant, outlining that her minor daughter had fallen victim to a gang rape perpetrated by four juveniles around two months ago.

It has also been revealed in the tweet that the minor victim was subjected to threats from the four accused boys to not disclose the matter to anyone.

All four accused have been arrested and identified to be Children in Conflict with Law (CCL). The age and other information are being verified and further lawful action is being taken. Since all concerned are reported to be minors, the identities are not being disclosed.

The DGP, Assam in the tweet, stated, “Reference reported rape case of minor in kokrajhar - Today at around 1 pm an information was received at Salakati OP from informant that her minor daughter was gang raped by 4 persons around 2 months back at around 3 pm on bank of river Champa while she went to take bath. She was threatened not to disclose the matter to anyone by the four accused. She disclosed the incident today to her mother. All four accused have been identified and arrested. They are all reported to be children in conflict with Law (CCL). The age etc is being verified and further lawful action is being taken. Since all concerned are reported to be minors, the identities are not beinng disclosed."
