GUWAHATI: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a press meet held on January 10 said that Ministry of Home Affairs has downgraded his security cover.

Speaking during the meeting, Gogoi said that his security cover has been downgraded from Z+ to Z category as he has been vocal against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Earlier, former Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta’s Z+ category security was also downgraded on December 22, who is also protesting against the CAA.

The Z+ category security cover has 55 personnel, including 10+ NSG Commando and state police personnel while the Z category has a security cover of 22 personnel.

Taking a jibe at the BJP-led government, Gogoi said that the BJP has done nothing in Assam and Khelo India Youth Games is only possible because Congress government build the infrastructure.
