GUWAHATI: A huge drain situated near Bhagwan Mahavir Udyan in Fancy Bazar, Guwahati was submerged by the surging water from the river Brahmaputra, posing threat to the entire area.
The drain, which is interconnected with various other drains in Fancy Bazar, got inundated after the water level at Brahmaputra reached the level of 50.43 meter.

According to Deepak Chakraborty, assistant executive engineer, Inland Water Department, Guwahati Sub-Division, inundation of the drain near Bhagwan Mahavir Udyan could cause flood in the Fancy Bazar area.
However, Kamrup (M) DC Biswajit Pegu has urged people not to panic and has assured to repair the drain and its adjoining road as soon as possible.
