"Since last evening, the flood situation in Assam has turned critical," CM Sarma said. "The Brahmaputra and all its tributaries are flowing above the danger level." In Kaziranga, nearly 95 forest check posts are submerged, and even the animals have started migrating to nearby hills to escape the rising waters.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall for the next two to three days, which could exacerbate the situation, the Chief Minister added.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have called me and assured all necessary help to deal with the situation," CM Sarma stated. "The NDRF and Army are on standby to handle any emergency."

All ministers, MLAs, and officials have been directed to closely monitor the situation and take necessary action.

According to DRIMS Assam, as on July 1, a total of 6,44,128 people in 19 districts, including the Brahmaputra and Barak valleys, are currently affected by the floods.
